The Design Wheel

The design wheel will guide you through the process of defining ‘your point’ and designing a concise yet complete presentation to communicate this point. Although at first hand this may seem to be a lengthy process, you will soon find out that it saves you time, and more importantly will help you create even more powerful material for presentations and other forms of communication.

The 12 golden steps are :

  1. Understand your audience and why they would listen to you.
  2. Clearly determine what you want to achieve (objectives), taking all limitations into account.
  3. Express the core of your message in one single succinct sentence.
  4. Collect all the evidence you will use to support the core message.
  5. Write your introduction: Situation, Complication and Resolution.
  6. Structure the evidence into one mental picture, a pyramid.
  7. Collect some anecdotes that will bring the evidence to life.
  8. Sequence your evidence and anecdotes into a story that will catch the audience’s attention.
  9. Create the core visuals that will help your audience remember the core message.
  10. Design slides and other visual material to support your speech.
  11. If needed create handouts or other documents based on the slides and the story.
  12. Prepare and rehearse a natural dialogue with your audience.

This unique method, designed by Edouard Gruwez, combines the knowledge of some of the world’s leading experts. It will provide you with insightful information that will determine the framework for all your future communication and presentations. You will find that you can even apply the principles when writing reports and emails. Participants on the training course have given the design wheel a 97% average rating for value in their jobs. Or as one participant said: “This is the most valuable and applicable training I ever had, this has put me and my team on the company map.”
